Continuing with the topic of desktop computers, the power supply provides energy to the motherboard, CPU, graphics cards, HDDs, SSDs, fans, CD drives... In short, it powers everything that needs energy, using different types of cables to do so.
Power supplies provide energy to SSDs and HDDs through SATA power connectors, and to fans through 3- or 4-pin Molex connectors or via the motherboard itself (which is powered by the 24-pin ATX connector). In this way, all components receive power from the power supply. Additionally, power supplies protect all components through a wide range of dedicated systems.
